Getting a title in VA
Has anybody gone the process of getting a title for a car here in VA. I've heard of title companies like broadway and such, but was wondering what it took to do it yourself. I'm looking at a 56 oval, but not title and wondered how easy/bad it was.
Thanks!
Thanks!

If you go to DMV with the current owner with a bill of sale, you should be able to get a new title with the liscense and registration.
Best bet is to call DMV and ask them

I bought my 65 bug in Georgia and all I got was a signed bill of sale. I took this into the DMV and got a title no problem. Best bet is to go into the DMV and explain the situation. I didn't have any issues at all with the 65.

I've "heard" that certain states only do bill of sales. This one is from NC. Does anybody know if they use titles, or just bill of sales?

NC uses titles. The PO you bought it from may have got it from say GA and only got a BoS and never titled it. Ask him and if so, you need a BoS from GA not NC.

Thanks for the info RR.
I will look into info on abandoned vehicles. I'm curious to see how you prove it was abandoned and how you attempt to contach the owner, or what.

Nice! So they guy just happens to abandon the vehicle in his front yard and you tow it home. Kind of like when I used to carry out groceries in college. I couldn't accept tips, but I'd always tell customers I could find money lying on the ground!
