Mounting Gauges Empty Mounting Gauges

Post  mloret Wed 1 Jun - 19:20

Hello. I would like to install 3 gauges in my '70 Beetle sedan, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to do that. I was going to install them in the dash, but I'm not too excited about the prospect of cutting the metal behind the speaker grills. I'm now looking into after market consoles, and I wonder if anyone can recommend a particular brand/style? Pictures would help as well. I found a couple in the gallery, but they didn't describe where purchased. I also saw some stuff made by Glass Action, but they didn't have pictures in an actual car.

Thanks,

Michael

How big are the gauges? I can make you a fiberglass pod to fit in your glove box if they are small enough gauges.

Mounting Gauges Empty Fiberglass

I already have a stereo in my glove box, so that's not an option (fiberglass, made by Glass Action). I am interested in your offer though. Can you think of another way to mount the gauges? Maybe a gauge cluster under the ashtray?

That's pretty cool, but it's for a 58-67. Mine is a '70, with the padded dash.

I have a sweet vintage gauge cluster that mounts under the ashtray. I paid $100 for it from a guy in Australia. $75 and its yours, Im tired of it sitting in the garage collecting dust. I'll snap some pics tomorrow.... It holds two gauges and a cig. lighter
