Slow Steve's 67 bus build
I started a thread on KCW, but thought I would start a new thread here. If you are want to see what I have done to it, check it:
http://kustomcoachwerks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4477
Here is what I have done in the last couple of days:
I originall didn't think I needed to replace the inner rocker.... I was wrong... her you go:
Stuff is tacked ready for final fit:
I didn't like the way the dogleg on the drivers side fit, so it was an easy decision to remove it to do the B-pillar. I also don't like some other stuff done, so that will be coming off and redone... Hey it's my first bus Let me know what you think.

I never did like the look, and it was on the top of the list to correct. I just need to finish welding, grinding, and spreading some mud on them...... and on almost all of the metal I have replaced.... ok all of the metal I just need to do one area at a time, probably get more done that way... naaaaaah

Re: Slow Steve's 67 bus build
Got a little done on this pig. I replaced the lower cargo doors inners/outers. This is my first build so the work is pretty crappy. Battery died on the camera so I only snapped one pic. Anyways here goes.
before: b-pillar is completely gone, I ended up replacing both a/b and c-pillar

Nothing done to the body. I've been so busy with school that is kicking my @$$. After the last update it has been at a stand still. The only thing I have done is I picked up a rear and middle seat from a gay window. Oh, and I have some steel 15's on the way, possibly a rear bumper. Once I get some time I'm going to finish up the little welding and grind all those fugly welds down and start the body work. I'm thinking gray cargo and under carriage, and possibly dove blue exterior and cab area. I might put it up for sale after that to get an older bus... fat lip, round tail lights, pressed bumpers.. ahh yeah you all know what I'm talking about! It's the fastest who gets paid, and its the fastest who gets laid (Reese Bobby)!

Re: Slow Steve's 67 bus build
Thanks! I had a chance to get some time on it today. I cut out the last two little spots and welded in new stuff on the cargo floor and started to get the cargo area ready for some paint. Two little spots on the doors, one little spot by the rear cargo door and a little spot on he battery tray and the metal work is done! Whoo! I want to get the metal part done tomorrow, but it might snow so it will depend on the weather.
I know what you mean, I sold my first bug and totally regreted it... I bought a 63 (summer body off project). The plan is to sell the split once I get it painted so I can get an older bus. I'm looking for a 61 and older. I want round tail light, fat lip doglegs, skinny hatch...possibly some pressed bumpers. This bus runs very nice. I rebuilt the engine, brakes, and sorted the electrical..... I might regret selling this one too!

Re: Slow Steve's 67 bus build
So the looooongest semester is finally over and while I wait for some stuff for Kelly's fasty I thought I would get cranking on the bus. It was a pretty productive day and pretty happy with the way it's going.
I finally got around to painting up the cargo area and get to some of little metal areas that need some loving. I look back at the pics and can't believe how far it has come. Next time I start to think about a project that needs this much, somebody kick me in the @$$!
Here's the cargo floor, it still needs some more done but progress is always good!
Passenger door:
Just some paint, should be ok when I get to the body work.
Driver door:
I didn't get a finished pic, but it looks like the drivers side.
Started on the radio area:
Before:
Straightening out the hack
And that's where I stopped today. Pretty happy with progress. More when I get more doen... prolly tomorrow

Thanks! Yeah I guess they were smoking or something when they decided to butcher a dash, but she's starting to really come together and might be painted soon. I will be going to the show, not sure if I'm going to bring the bus though... I want to have my oval running by then..... probably won't happen.

Passenger walk through seat hackery
**Just remembered I had a thread of the bus already**
Ok I got tired of looking for a passenger seat for my bus and didn't want to pay an arm and a leg + shipping, so I thought I would try to cut up a bug seat and see what I come up with. I ended up picking a seat from Skip. I think it turned out pretty cool and certainly better than I thought it would.
So here it is getting the initial fitting:
A few minutes with the cutting wheel fitting... better.
I cut off the lower legs, measured and welded it to the left side due to the uneveness of the wheel well:
Tacked in:
Checking level and fit.. looks good..
Ok I was wondering how I was going to attach the back part of it.... So I repostioned the brackets that were there before... BAM! It worked and it even tilts forward so.. Check it:
All I need to do now is weld some tubing to the sides so it can mount to the stock locations.. What do you guys think?
