Brian sent out an email about the 63 bug for sale and I picked it up today. I was online when the email was sent and was the 1st person that called the guy. Someone tried to out buy me but I got it! It is RUSTY! Needs heater channels, pans, rear inner 1/4's and the front luggage area (around the tank) also there is a big hole in the dash the lower right a pillar is shot too. But it is complete! Fenders, hood and decklid are all in great shape! May consider parting it
I really just wanted the pop outs and the 40 horse. Dont really know what I will do with it.

ok it was me......i was the one who tried to buy it before you..... keep it....fix it.....if it's all there why part it out??? at this day and age, they ALL NEED metal work.....

also guilty.. I tried to buy it too. I didn't try to out bid you though. But owell. I didn't think it needed that much work. I know a guy that is selling pop outs for $40 if he still has them. The car is WAY more rusty than he made it out to be on the phone. He told me his son wanted it... are you his son

naaa, it wasn't me.....i have enough dead vws lying around my yard now!!!!! and the one i just bought will keep me busy for a very looooong time once the oval is done...ha ha

I might keep it. I will just put it on the back burner. It needs extensive metal work! Hey Steve if you know someone selling early 4 screw pop outs then you should buy them all or let me! I sold my last set for almost $400!!!

I might do that Gary said like five guys wanted it and his phone was ringing off the hook. It was funny because he said some guy wanted it real bad, and he told him it was first come first serve sunday at 8. He then told me he will hold it for me and to call him sunday at 7. I called him today to see if we were still on. He then told me that they came back early that his son didn't know he had the car and wanted it. He then siad it was a lot of work. I didn't expect a show car for $300, a-pillars, heater channels, pan, and I have never seen a dash rust like that either. I'm sure it can resurected.

If you want to part it out PM me. I might need some items or two of a 63.

I tried to get it too, but oh well I had no where to keep it, I figured the condtion it was in when the guy told me it has sat idle in one spot for 14 years. Does the motor turn over, he said it was driven to where it sat.

wasnt me who offered more for it, at least I dont have to drive to Lake Chesdin now.

Motor is locked up and the inspection sticker says 87. It can be saved, my old ragtop was in worse shape and I got it back together. My main priority is the 51 but im always game if I can get a vw for less than 5 bills! The pop outs sealed the deal! Anyway I may just stash it for a rainy day......

They certainly can be resurrected. It all depends of what you want to deal with. I agree with Glenn thought that complete untouched cars aren't easy to come by. I would much rather work with a rusty uncustomized car and than one that was molested. That one looks like our 65 that was fairly complete but rough as hell. The whole bottom was gone and the front and rear luggage shelves. It will ride again though.

Joe, let me know if you decide to do some parting out of the tomato . I am looking for a restorable tank for my 63' and a few other things .

Well, it took a few hours, a chainsaw, and a tractor to get it out, but it made it out of the forest!
